Stop Holding Yourself Back (Unleash Your Full Potential)

mindset

When you procrastinate, you know it.

We tend to procrastinate most often because we lose our willpower, or self-control. The ability to stay focused, resist distractions, and be satisfied with delayed gratification.

We step out for a quick coffee, check our social media apps, squeeze in a few quick errands - all because we want to avoid doing something else. That thing that will make us successful is a long, arduous game that doesn’t yield immediate results, or positive feedback from the people around us, so it's the easiest to dismiss.

Real estate can be a long, lonely road, but being busy is not the same as being productive. We all know that there are more important business tasks to do, yet we can justify those distractions in our minds.

Acknowledge those moments, think about them, and put effort into chipping away at them while you build new habits.

Decide what you’re willing to fight for - or walk away from!

Grit is essential when pursuing success, and the act of "not giving up" separates the winners from the losers, but we’ve been incorrectly conditioned to associate quitting with failure.

What if you realize that your initial strategy was all off? How long will you wander down the wrong path before swallowing your pride to make the executive decision to change course or pull the plug altogether? Time is finite, so quitting and putting your time where it is better served isn’t a bad thing if it gets you back on track.

Now, once you've decided on that thing that you are going to really fight for, go all in. There is no time to be timid. The beauty of being an entrepreneur is that you can go after your big goal with all of the passion and heart you can spare without having to ask permission from your boss or be held back by a co-worker. This is all you.

Our situations and surroundings don’t change - our perceptions of them do:

Sure, you can change a few things in your life right now, but the reality is, wholesale changes don’t happen overnight. Those things take time.

Where you live, where you work, your relationships - they all develop over time. So you’re going to have to change your view of these situations until they actually do change.

How can you handle set-backs, obstacles, challenges, and personal relationships so that they don’t derail you and knock you off your path? In reality, these things aren't permanent or insurmountable, but our minds don't know that. A negative perception left unattended, can fester for years and change the course of our entire lives!

Change your perceptions of these things, give less weight to negatives and embrace the positives. Shake off setbacks as just minor stumbling blocks and not almighty signs to throw in the towel.

The majority of what you want, will come from the minority of what you do. Success is found in doing what matters most. Creating a sense of urgency for the necessary, important things allows less room for time-wasting tasks.

We shouldn’t allot the same amount of time and energy for every task or client. Some will clearly yield much better returns than others, and we need to be objective, not sentimental about those.

Changing a habit is one of life's toughest challenges, and can take weeks, months, even years to stick.

Remember that the majority of things you want in life will actually come from only a few of the things that you do. Doubling your business does not require that you double EVERYTHING that you do in a day, just the one or two right things that you do each day.
