How to Have an Epic Year (Simplest Strategies)
Shorten your vision.
There is a misconception that in order to build a big business, you need to make big decisions. The truth is, smaller decisions made regularly will do just fine.
When you make smaller decisions, you really can't make big mistakes, and small decisions over short timeframes only require micro adjustments, whereas big decisions are much more difficult to overturn. Your ability to quickly pivot is an asset.
Lost time is a major drain on an agent’s schedule, so spending months going in the wrong direction can have really catastrophic effects on their business.
Instead of making one big decision that you hope will result in a successful year, make a few small decisions that you believe will help you win the week. Once you can develop consistency in your weeks, you will inevitably win the month. Consistently winning most months will lead to a stellar year.
Where are you right now in your business?
Chances are, if you’re here in this course right now, it’s probably because you want to increase your business. Most agents are flying by the seat of their pants and have no clear game plan to guide them to the next level, let alone maintain stability at their current level.
Have you ever created a formal business plan before? Here are just a few of the key considerations:
How long have you been in the business?
How many transactions are you currently averaging a year?
Which lead generating activities have you tried?
What challenges do you have with your lead generation?
Where have you realized the most success?
How many names are in your database?
Is your database segmented into different categories?
How often do you touch the contacts in your database?
What sort of touch methods do you use with your database?
How many hours do you consistently spend growing your business each day, or each week?
What would you change about your current lead generating activities and approach?
Do you have specific goals or targets that you want to reach?
What did you do prior to real estate?
What is your goal?
You need a clear definition of what you want and where you're going. But first, you need to understand that not every goal is the same, and placing the wrong goal in the wrong sequence will not get you the results you’re after. In fact, it can seriously derail your overall ambitions.
If your goal is to make a million dollars in real estate sales commissions, it would be very easy to assume that all you need to do is make friends with a few wealthy people who have expensive homes and wait for them to call you once they need to sell. But there is no immediate correlation between making a million dollars and having rich friends. It may work for some people, but it certainly won't work for everyone.
Your real goal would be to create a steady inflow of willing and able buyers and sellers that perceive you as their authority on local real estate, and where you can generate a steady stream of appointments, that will translate into business relationships and successful deals. And hopefully they have expensive homes, which would be a bonus!
Your big goal is actually made up of a subset of many clear, tiny goals - baby steps that you take every day to help you accomplish that big goal. Every successful business generates volume (in contacts, leads, calls, sales transactions, etc.), which then enables them to build systems and process to support that business activity.
Define the smaller goals that lead to your big goal. This is your purposefully designed to-do list that you can execute every day.
