3 Habit Hacks to Make This Your Best Year Yet
1) Procrastinating forces you to shrink your goals.
RIGHT NOW is the only thing that’s real. What actions can you take right now to build your pipeline? What can you do right now to engage with your database, or encourage more referrals? What can you do right now to gain a competitive edge in your local market, or add additional streams of income? What can you do today to close more NOW business?
Do not get lost in those thoughts that allow you to constantly shrink your goals as an out, or an excuse for always coming up short. And don't chase your goals to prove a point to someone else. Do this for YOU, to prove to yourself that you have what it takes, and that YOU are deserving of a worthy goal too!
Break through the urge to procrastinate and move towards your goal, even if it means taking baby steps.
2) Do a little bit each and every day.
Do a little bit of your goal every day. Write down how much, or how little, you must do each day to achieve your bigger goal. Enlist the help of others who can, and will, support you. You MUST get the support of others in order to achieve your goals and avoid those that aren't positively supporting your cause.
You don’t need to move massive mountains every single day, but just focus on consistency over intensity. Consistency driven by a deep love of the work that you do, will bring you big growth in the long run.
There is a Japanese philosophy called kaizen. The idea here is to focus on the tiny, consistent improvements that you make every day in your life that make you better than you were yesterday, rather than being concerned about how small the step you take is.
3) Commit to growing and strengthening your business every day.
It’s not an issue of having time; it’s an issue of making time.
Approach your real estate business like a legal or medical practice. Since doctors and lawyers don’t have a specific product, when they sell their practices, what they’re actually selling are their systems and client database. That can either be utterly worthless, or valued in the millions of dollars.
Imagine that you’re moving abroad, and you wanted to sell your real estate business to another agent in your current market area. What would your business be worth, and how would you come up with that valuation?
There is a reason why most real estate agents never retire, and it’s because they never had an exit strategy.
